      "title": "Search NHANES variables",
      "description": "Searches ~57,000 NHANES variable names and labels across all continuous cycles (1999-2023) and components. Matches an exact variable name (e.g. LBXGH) or keywords in the label / data-file description (e.g. 'glycohemoglobin', 'systolic blood pressure', 'vitamin D'). Returns variable, label, data file, cycle, component, use constraints and the codebook link. Use before nhanes_get_weighted_estimate to find the right variable and cycle."

      "title": "Survey-weighted NHANES estimate",
      "description": "Computes a nationally representative (U.S. civilian non-institutionalized) survey-weighted estimate for one NHANES variable and cycle: mean, prevalence (share meeting a threshold) or median/percentile, with standard error, 95% CI, unweighted n and an NCHS reliability flag, optionally by sex, race/Hispanic origin, age group or income-to-poverty group. Reads the CDC public-use .xpt files live, merges with demographics, picks the correct weight (subsample weight in the file, else MEC exam weight for exam/lab, else interview weight) and uses the SDMVSTRA/SDMVPSU design (Taylor linearization, subpopulation analysis). Refused/Don't know codes are excluded automatically. Estimates are crude (not age-adjusted), so they can differ slightly from age-adjusted figures in CDC reports."
